This Thursday, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, commemorated the 214th anniversary of the Liberator Simón Bolívar’s iconic speech before the Patriotic Society of Caracas. In a message on his Telegram channel, the president called for a determined confrontation with those who still maintain attitudes of contempt and racism toward the peoples of Latin America, drawing inspiration from the rebellious and independence-seeking legacy of the nation’s heroes:
«Together with Ribas, Miranda, and other heroes, Bolívar charted the course by debating with the people the historic dilemma: independence or colony. It was a call to Our Americas to break the chains of 300 years of European domination, the same colonialism that today seeks to impose its designs on our homeland,» highlighted Maduro.
The head of state emphasized that the Venezuelan people must keep alive the unbreakable spirit of their ancestors in the face of the imperialist powers that continue to belittle the peoples of the region: «As the Liberator taught us and as Commander Chávez reiterated, the slogan is clear: Independence or nothing! Regardless of the adversities,» he stated.
He also reiterated that independence is the only way for Venezuela and the region to consolidate their own political, social, and economic models, strengthening our America as a geopolitical bloc with global influence. «Patience has been enough. Today is the time for sovereign action,» concluded the president.
