Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro emphasized that, thanks to the efforts made by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, as a direct interlocutor with Washington for the recovery of Venezuelans in the United States, the Bolivarian Government has achieved the repatriation of more than 6,500 citizens detained by the ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
At least two repatriation flights per week are being carried out, the president stated through the «Great Mission Vuelta a la Patria” (Return to the Homeland) segment of his presidential program “Con Maduro+”.
As special guests on the 84th edition of the program, the president welcomed the families of the 18 children kidnapped by the United States government, who shared the hardships they have endured due to Trump’s violent immigration measures.
President Nicolás Maduro reiterated that the children kidnapped by the United States must be returned to Venezuela as an act of justice.
The head of state also referred to the Paris Fashion Week event in France, where designer Willy Chavarría staged a symbolic protest against the detention centers in El Salvador, where, according to the president, human rights are systematically violated.
Head of State Sends Letter to Pope Leo XIV:
President Maduro signed a letter this Monday addressed to Pope Leo XIV asking him to intercede and support the return to the country of Venezuelan children held in detention centers and foster homes in the United States:
«This is about the lives and future of children who, for various reasons, have ended up detained,» stated the Venezuelan dignatary. In the letter, he requests that the Supreme Pontiff, through the head of the Unified Command of the Revolution and head of the Venezuelan Delegation for Dialogue and Understanding, Jorge Rodríguez, is made the search and rescue commission for these children, and the head of the Vuelta a la Patria Plan, Camilla Fabri, initiate negotiations with the Venezuelan Catholic Church, the Monsignor of Caracas, and the Catholic Churches of the United States and El Salvador.
The objective of this diplomatic initiative is for the Church to provide aid and mercy, uniting «the strength of Christ» to achieve the prompt return of these children and the happiness of their parents.
For his part, Rodríguez proposed that the letter to the Pope be signed by all the Venezuelan people, in a gesture of national unity. He also announced that he will petition the National Assembly to declare Volker Türk as persona non grata and for Venezuela to withdraw from his office while he is the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
