The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, emphasized, in relation to the destabilizing plans attempted by the international right-wing in Venezuela prior to the May 25 elections, that they have committed violations of human rights and, despite this, are raising a public opinion movement that «is a way of creating a narrative that covers those they influence within the country or from abroad.»
In this regard, he blamed Volker Türk as one of the accomplices, «the greatest coward,» also pointing out that this United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights «is a coward and has remained silent in the face of the massacre of children in the attacks in Gaza, the massacre of the people of Lebanon and Syria, and the kidnapping and forced disappearance in concentration camps in El Salvador,» where 253 Venezuelans are being held.
Along the same lines, the President specified that the revolutionary government has captured several foreign mercenaries who are disguised as human rights defenders and who «what they come here is to kill in Venezuela and then stir up a movement of public opinion there, in Europe.»
At the same time, he posed the following questions: Should we allow ourselves to be killed, to be bombed, allow them to kill innocent Venezuelans, to attack vital targets in the country? He responded that in Venezuela there is a constitutional force that is to be respected, and that “anyone who comes to conspire will be captured and prosecuted according to the laws of Venezuela.»
Furthermore, he highlighted the important role of the country’s popular forces, of the military and police forces of the country, because “they saved the whole Venezuela from the violence of terrorism and, once again, from the guarimbas (riots).«
