Venezuela and China sign phytosanitary protocol agreement

Chancellor Yván Gil announced that Venezuela and China signed a phytosanitary protocol agreement that will allow the direct export of mung beans to the Asian giant.

In a message published on social media, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs announced this during a fruitful meeting with Sun Meijun, Minister and Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee, at the General Administration of Customs:

«This agreement represents an invaluable opportunity for Venezuelan farmers in the central-western part of the country, opening the doors to one of the largest and most important markets in the world,» said Gil.

He also highlighted that this activity is carried out through the «All Test and All Weather» Strategic Partnership between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the People’s Republic of China: «Both governments have signed an important export agreement,» he added.

This agreement, signed between the Venezuelan Chancellory and the General Directorate of Customs of China, will significantly expand access for this product to the world’s largest consumer market, where mung beans are highly valued for their nutritional and medicinal properties. Currently, Venezuelan mung bean exports reach 100,000 tons annually, according to figures for 2024.
