President Nicolás Maduro concluded his work journey in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg by reaffirming Venezuela’s willingness to consolidate cooperation with Russia through new investment avenues and a shared vision of development, as reported Presidential Press on its website.

The president’s visit was part of the agenda for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over German Nazism.

The head of state paid tribute to the martyrs of World War II at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery and laid a wreath at the Motherland Monument in honor of the Russian people.

The central point of his agenda was a meeting with the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, with whom he held a dialogue aimed at consolidating a national economic model based on attracting investment and mutual development.

The President emphasized: «This is the formula, our own efforts,» referring to St. Petersburg’s experience of resistance during the Nazi blockade, in parallel with Venezuela’s struggle against economic sanctions.

In this regard, he emphasized that Venezuela’s 13 Economic Engines are ready to promote productive alliances and move toward comprehensive cooperation that includes economic, educational, and cultural sectors: «We must continue building bridges that bring our countries closer together. Consolidate comprehensive cooperation,» he stated.

Governor Beglov reaffirmed the strength of bilateral ties and recalled that they were cemented by leaders Vladimir Putin and Hugo Chávez, and that despite pressure from the West, both nations share the defense of a multipolar and sovereign world.

The event confirmed that Venezuela is projected as a strong, resilient country, ready to share its productive capabilities with allied countries at a time of global geopolitical reconfiguration.
