The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, landed at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport this Tuesday, at the start of his official visit to the Russian Federation.
His visit to the Eurasian nation aims to deepen the alliances between Caracas and Moscow, a «strategic and cooperative partnership that will lay a solid foundation for further expanding multifaceted ties for the long term,» as explained his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during a video conference on March 14.
In the dialogue held by both authorities, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations, President Putin also extended an official invitation to his counterpart Nicolás Maduro to the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the name the Soviet Union gave to its participation in the so-called Second World War against Nazi Germany.
Shared Commitment to Humanity:
In this context, the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov, in an interview with the Presidential Press, reaffirmed the bonds of love that unite both peoples and how the two nations share a commitment to preserving the history of the struggle for freedom:
“President Maduro’s decision to join this event with President Putin reflects not only the deep friendship of both leaders, but also their shared commitment to preserving historical memory, combating divisions, and honoring those who sacrificed their lives for freedom,” he expressed.
In this regard, this official visit is expected to review joint plans in order to develop new strategies that will lead to the growth of both countries.
The Venezuelan dignitary arrived in Moscow accompanied by the First Lady, Cilia Flores, and part of his ministerial team, including the Ministers for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, and for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil.
