Venezuela denounces false flag operation by the Government of Guyana

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through an Official Communiqué, denounced the false flag and open provocation media operation orchestrated by the Government of Guyana, regarding an alleged attack against troops from that country.

The text of the communiqué categorically rejects the vile montage promoted by the Guyanese Government which, through its Chancellor, Hugh Hilton Todd, intends to spread the false, hostile and malicious narrative:

«This is a false flag operation and fake news designed to manipulate public opinion and divert attention from the violations of international law that Guyana commits in the Guayana Essequibo”, Venezuelan territory.

The Venezuelan government has begun investigations and the first elements indicate that these are illegal miners operating in Essequibo territory under the protection of the army and the police of Guyana, who were attacked and injured: “Currently, these citizens are receiving medical attention in Venezuelan territory.”

Venezuela demands the Chancellor of Guyana to cease his aggressions and lies and, instead of fomenting confrontation, comply with his obligation under the Geneva Agreement of 1966.”

Curiously, the Guyanese media operation occurs one day after the 59th anniversary of this international agreement signed by the parties to resolve the territorial dispute caused by the occupation, invasion and plundering of Venezuelan territory by the then English empire of the United Kingdom.

VENEZUELA DENOUNCES FALSE FLAG OPERATION AND PROVOCATION CARRIED OUT BY GUYANA

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the vile montage promoted by the Government of Guyana which, through its Chancellor, Hugh Hilton Todd, intends to spread a false hostile and malicious narrative about an alleged attack against Guyanese troops. This is a false flag operation and fake news designed to manipulate public opinion and divert attention from the violations of international law that Guyana is committing in the Guayana Essequibo.

Venezuela is investigating the events and the first elements gathered indicate that elements linked to illegal mining, operating in Guayana Essequibo under the protection of the Guyanese army and police, were attacked and injured. Currently, these citizens are receiving medical attention in Venezuelan territory.

We denounce that the government of Guyana, in its eagerness to cover up its illegal actions in the disputed territory, resorts to disinformation and war-mongering propaganda to justify its growing militarization, backed by the United States Southern Command, which constitutes a threat to regional peace.

Venezuela demands the Chancellor of Guyana to cease his aggressions and lies and, instead of fomenting confrontation, comply with his obligation under the Geneva Agreement of 1966, which establishes direct negotiation between the parties as the only way to resolve the territorial dispute.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its firm commitment to peace and to the restitution of its sovereign rights over Essequibo, in strict adherence to international law and historical truth.”
