Misión Milagro celebrates 16 years bringing solidarity and humanistic health to the people

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated the team of the Misión Milagro (Mission Miracle) for its 16 years: “Taking up this model of solidarity and humanist health of Fidel and Chávez, which has allowed us to take care of, and restore the sight to more of 6 million Latin American and Caribbean brothers”, expressed the Head of State in his official accounts on social networks.

Under the premise of returning the vision to millions of people, was born Misión Milagro, a medical collaboration project that not only works for the benefit of health, but also in favor of Latin American integration and the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

This mission represents a humanitarian health program, created by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA), Commander Chávez and Fidel Castro, with the aim of serving the population with fewer resources, thus restoring faith and hope to those who need it most in Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the first five years, the Milagro Mission returned the vision to more than 6 million Latin Americans, cared for by Cuban and Venezuelan specialists.

Free, effective and fast, it began to take care of those who suffered ophthalmological diseases that prevented them from entering social life.

Today, this social health program benefits the entire Venezuelan population, but also those patients in Central America and the Caribbean.

This program began its work on July 08, 2004 and since then it has been dedicated to treating pathologies such as: cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment and corneal dystrophy.

In addition, they make free supplies of eyeglasses, eye drops and medicines, if required, according to prior medical evaluation.
