“Guyana is obliged to sit down to negotiate immediately to find a practical and satisfactory solution for both parties, on the territorial controversy over the Essequibo Guayana”, said the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, during the “Zona Digital” (Digital Zone) segment of his regular “Con Maduro+” program.
This statement was made by the President, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement, which was signed by the Governments of Venezuela and Great Britain, in which it is recognized that there is a territorial dispute over Guayana Essequibo.
In this line, the National President demanded Guyana to negotiate to find a practical solution to this dispute, but one that satisfies the parties in conflict and, in turn, asserted that «the rulers of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana should not delay another day and must sit down to negotiate with the Government of Venezuela to seek, in a direct manner, a practical and peaceful solution.»
The Dignitary pointed out: «Venezuela is the legitimate owner of the territory of Guayana Essequibo, and it will be demonstrated.»
