The Vice President of the Policy, Citizen Security and Peace Sector, Diosdado Cabello, reported this Friday that the mercenaries involved in the recent Operation Oro were offered 300,000 dollars each, to attack forts in Venezuela, and to carry out a third objective, which was to kidnap magistrate Maikel Moreno, and then sell him, said information was shared during his radio program, “Sin Truco ni Maña” (Without trick nor knack).
Likewise, Cabello reported that the capture of between two and three people involved remains pending and that last Thursday the internal network of coyotes in the United States was finally dismantled. He also pointed out that the main person involved was José Rodríguez Araña, a previous participant in Operation Aurora, whom he described as a «very bad cadet, a very bad officer,» and was involved with the far-right wing María Corina Machado, who previously indicated that last December would be a «month of conflict» and that «they would go on the offensive,» by attacking barracks:
«She said that there would be a break, that is, a terrorist action,» Cabello clarified. In addition, the offensive was linked to the American mercenary, Matthew Bandai. He recalled that the first phase of Operation Oro was the attack on a military installation, located in San Juan de los Morros (Guárico state), whose execution was reported by a social communicator. On the other hand, he assured that «Rodríguez Araña is in the United States, if you want to get rid of criminals, capture Rodríguez Araña and send him to Venezuela, he will be judged here,» the minister told the American government.
On the other hand, the explosive device, developed for the attack against the base in Guárico state, was created with supplies delivered by an official of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), who is in custody.
