From the Municipal Theater in Caracas, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, holds a meeting with the Communal Justices of the Peace, elected on December 15 in a journey of leading participation, characterized by civility, organization and a deep political awareness.
Hours after the Venezuelan Head of State expressed that with the election of the Justices of the Peace, the people now exercise the Judicial Power in the community, as part of the deepening of the territorialization of public policies, this meeting is held, in which the grassroots spokespersons also participate.
In context, this Tuesday, the national dignitary congratulated the communities, the elected judges, «whom – as he said from Miraflores Palace – I have been seeing and listening to through the networks and the media.»
President Maduro highlighted that Sunday, December 15, was an event that gave an example of the power of the neighbors of the Communal Circuits of the country, by electing, for the first time in history, Judges of the Peace.
To the neighbors, the President said: «The communities now have their Justices of the Peace, elected by popular vote!»
This exclamation was made when emphasizing the importance of this historic election that strengthens the role of the people, as part of the postulates of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, since it settles a historic debt of twenty-five years and vindicates articles of the Magna Carta, such as article 258.
This article 258 reads as follows: «The law will organize justice of the peace in the communities. The judges of the peace will be elected by universal, direct and secret vote, in accordance with the law. The law will promote arbitration, conciliation, mediation and any other alternative means for the resolution of conflicts.»
With this new conquest, in the heat of the Bolivarian Revolution, the premise of the Bolivarian Government continues to be to accelerate and deepen the construction of the grassroots power of the people. Once again, the people have been the protagonists in the framework of significant achievements, since they have their judges, which allows them to exercise judicial power in the community, from their own territory.
Also at the Municipal Theater, the head of state was accompanied by the First Combatant Woman of the Republic, Cilia Flores; the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, magistrate Caryslia Beatriz Rodríguez Rodríguez; the president of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Tania D’ Amelio; the Minister of People’s Power for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado; as well as other magistrates of the highest court in the country and the highest officials of the Public Powers of the Venezuelan State.
