President led commemorative act of the 200 years of the Battle of Ayacucho

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, this Monday, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, led a commemorative act of this date.

That day was sealed, in the history of Venezuela, as a feat and military victory that consolidated the firmness of a people who united in a common cause, the freedom and independence of South America.

In his words, during this act, the Dignitary pointed out that «with this great triumph they sealed forever the victory of the liberation of our continent from three centuries of ruthless and criminal colonialism.»

He recalled: «200 years ago the destiny of America was sealed and it marks us, for now and forever, as the people of the victors of Ayacucho.»

In this sense, from the Paseo Monumental Los Próceres (The Heroes Monumental Stroll), the Venezuelan Head of State is accompanied by members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), for the commemoration of this anniversary that highlights the value of those patriots who defended with their lives the sovereignty of a people determined to be free from European colonialism.

In context, on December 9, 1824, the armed combat, considered the greatest battle that has ever existed, culminated in a victory for the republican forces, in which the Spanish Empire was overthrown.

The national dignitary is accompanied by the First Combatant Woman of the Republic, Cilia Flores, among other authorities and special guests.
