Dismantled band dedicated to smuggling fuel to Colombia

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported this Thursday that was dismantled a band dedicated to smuggling fuel to Colombia from Zulia and Tachira states.

In a press conference, the high official indicated that on August 31 the authorities found a first discovery of five tank trucks with fuel in the town of Ciudad Ojeda, Lagunillas municipality of Zulia state, which are presumed were to be moved to Colombia.

In his statements, Saab stressed that the intelligence work has allowed to find other vehicles, as well as warehouses and parking lots. A total of 19 tank trailers have been seized, each with a capacity of 38,000 liters.

According to the experts, between the tanks and containers there is an approximate 772,000 liters of kerosene, diesel, toluene, mineral oil and crude oil that would be trafficked to Colombia.
