Jorge Rodríguez emphasized that lifting the quarantine at this time would represent a serious risk

The Vice President for Communication, Culture and Tourism, Jorge Rodríguez, warned that it represents a serious risk to lift the quarantine and the strict prevention measures of Covid-19.

From Miraflores Palace in Caracas, Rodríguez said that the measures applied in the country have allowed to keep flat the contagion curve.

“Would Venezuela had not taken actions in March, today we would have 224,000 positive cases and approximately 8,600 dead people”, he explained.

He noted that Venezuela’s mortality rate “is currently one of the lowest in the world, because we have taken preventive measures in time”.

In this sense, he warned that if the quarantine is radically lifted, “an exponential growth in cases due to Covid-19 would immediately begin.”

In the last 24 hours, there have been reported 10 new positive cases of Covid-19, of which 1 was registered in Táchira state, 1 in Miranda state and 8 in Nueva Esparta state.

The number of cases totals 345 throughout the national territory, of which 148 have recovered, while 95 are admitted to sentinel hospitals, 69 to Integral Diagnostic Centers and 23 to private clinics.

The death toll remains at 10.
