National government denounces act of sabotage against the Ezequiel Zamora Railway System

A fire broke out on Tuesday night in the electrical room of the Libertador Simón Bolívar station of the Ezequiel Zamora-1 Railway System, in La Rinconada, Caracas. This was reported by the Minister of People’s Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, who explained that the incident was the result of an act of sabotage:

A fire was recorded at the power plant, we do not doubt that it was an act of sabotage because we have carried out maintenance on all the circuits, plants and structure of the railroad. We from the Ministry of People’s Power for Transportation condemn these events that seek to affect the tranquility of the population,” said the minister.

The incident generated alarm among users and workers of the railway transportation system. Fortunately, the quick action of the Caracas Fire Department, who arrived at the scene with a truck and an ambulance, allowed them to control the situation and prevent the flames from spreading to other areas of the station.

Despite the incident, the operation of the trains from La Rinconada station to Valles del Tuy and vice versa was not affected. However, the electrical services within the station remain suspended while repair work is being carried out and the damage caused by the fire is assessed:

We have controlled this fire in record time, which affected the tranquility of users of this multimodal transport,” said Velásquez, who also added that his office has already begun the corresponding investigations to determine the exact causes of the incident and those responsible.
