The Strategic Operational Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB), G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez, reported the activation of the Early Warning Plan, “where the deployment of the air and land resources of the FANB in assistance, recognition, search missions and location of any targets of interest that may violate national sovereignty”.
This Plan was applied to an aircraft that on July 14 violated Venezuelan regulations.
He recalled that “in accordance with the Control Law for the Integral Defense of Airspace, which aims to establish the rules that govern the control for the comprehensive defense of the continental, insular and maritime airspace of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in the exercise of our national sovereignty and in response to the highest interests of security and comprehensive defense for the application of interception, persuasion and neutralization actions of any aircraft or object that violates the provisions on air circulation, being declared the vector located in flight as a hostile target, and since it did not identify itself, turned off the locator, transposed and hid the identification plates, interdiction and air interception were ordered.”
Members of the citizen security bodies and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) located a crashed plane, used for illicit drug trafficking in the El Chaparral sector of Portuguesa state. The aircraft was identified as a Cessna 402-B model, with serial number 0347.
