President Maduro reported they are on the trail of the bulk of what was stolen by corrupt officials

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, announced that new arrests will be made of individuals linked to the Pdvsa-Cripto corruption plot. During the broadcast of his “Con Maduro+” program, the national leader reported that these arrests are already being carried out.

He denounced that the National Superintendence of Crypto Assets and Related Activities (Sunacrip) became a refuge for criminals, “while the government faces persecution and sanctions, the corrupt have been stealing national funds. It became the lair of the mafia, of bandits, of thieves, of traitors and we were struggling, being persecuted, threatened, sanctioned, and they stole the people’s money.”

Also, President Maduro highlighted the work of the State security forces, whose expertise has allowed the corruption network to be revealed. The detainees have confessed details of the operation, which include methods to hide funds using crypto assets: “All of the last captured have revealed the plot, evidence, names, they had formulas to hide the money in crypto assets.”

Likewise, he admitted that the betrayal of trusted people has caused him great personal pain, but he emphasized that the damage to the people is even greater, which is why he insisted on the need to be relentless in the fight against corruption and conspiracy, regardless of whoever is involved.

In addition, the introduction of severe penalties, including life imprisonment and permanent disqualification from public office, was proposed for those convicted of corruption and treason. This proposal will be submitted to public debate.
