Neutralized right wing plan to sabotage public services ahead of regional elections

The executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Tarek El Alsaimi, reported that has been neutralized a plan that included sabotage of public services and the reactivation of the terrorist street agenda after October 10.

“We are going to show the country elements of evidence that will be handed over to the Public Ministry, where it is shown that there are factors of the Venezuelan right wing and high leaders of (political) parties linked to these terrorist acts”, he said.

He said that on Tuesday was captured Manuel Bernardo Chacín Díaz (31), to whom were confiscated explosive devices, and who was identified as one of the main operators of a terrorist organization of the Chacao municipality in Miranda state, a promoter of the “guarimbas” (street riots), who is linked to the Voluntad Popular (right wing) party and to the group denominated “La Resistencia” (The Resistance). He detailed Chacín is being requested from 2016 for the crimes of intentional homicide, aggravated robbery and association to crime.

El Aissami said that the captured was instructed by Oscar Perez – A former Cicpc official who attacked the headquarters of the TSJ and Mppijp from a helicopter last June 27 – who instructed Chacín Díaz to execute the plan of attacking public services, among which are included electric service, fuel supply, water, ATMs, among others, as well as selective operations on police and military units and attacking right-wing leaders.

Telephone records show the direct link of the terrorists identified with Leopoldo López, leader of Popular Will imprisoned for promoting the “La Salida” (The Exit) plan, which sought to break the constitutional thread.

“There is an ongoing plan of sabotage, there are clear intentions of the opposition to follow the path of a coup d’ etat”, he said.

He detailed that terrorist cells were ready to reactivate attacks and protests in the country, from October 10, with the aim of preventing regional elections.

He also denounced that these groups hired criminals to remove cables and material that serves to provide electricity and water, just as they did in Falcon state.

El Aissami showed the media the seized material, also announced that they are conducting investigations to determine other people linked to terrorist acts.
