Advancing actions to dismantle human trafficking networks in social networks

The National Government is taking actions to dismantle prostitution and human trafficking networks based on digital platforms (social networks), as announced the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

During the “Con Maduro+” program, he explained that the case “is in full investigation phase” by the corresponding authorities.

We are discovering and dismantling a network of prostitution and human trafficking that has its seat on social networks, they are in the full investigation phase,” he stressed, repudiating the fact that “there is a free way – on social networks – for content directed to promote child prostitution and human trafficking.”

Previously, the Head of State pointed out that in countries like the United States, the spreading through social networks of inappropriate content, specifically sexual content, is under permanent investigation:

The phenomenon is perhaps multiplied by 10 throughout the world. They – the heads of the social networks – do respect internal laws, but in the world the laws are not respected because they are not regulated by anything,” he questioned.

Precisely, to counteract the negative influence of social networks on youth, the Venezuelan President called for the establishment of a working group – of an inclusive nature – on the influence of digital platforms.
