AN calls on the people to prepare an electoral schedule for presidential elections

The National Assembly (AN) calls all sectors of the country to a national meeting next Monday, February 5, to prepare the electoral schedule for this year’s presidential elections.

This was announced by the president of Parliament, deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/Capital District), during the ordinary session this Tuesday, where an agreement was unanimously approved to reject and repudiate any interference by a foreign power against Venezuelan sovereignty:

Our response must be to call on everyone, to any presidential pre-candidates who want, the political parties, the electoral movements who want, the businessmen and women, the farmers, the cultural workers, to the writers, to the musicians, to the plastic artists, to the university professors, to the school teachers, to each and everyone, for this coming Monday, and together we will prepare the electoral calendar, the proposal of all the people of Venezuela,” he indicated.

The parliamentarian highlighted that the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) has already decided on the political disqualifications, and there are no threats from kidnappers that will change that issue. “Save yourselves the lapse, Yankees,” pointed out Rodríguez, in the face of the interference and threats by the United States Government.

Rodríguez added that if there is no further progress, it is a sanction in itself. “It is a unilateral coercive measure, it is illegal, it is illegitimate, no State can get involved in the matters that correspond to another State. What they seek is to attack the economic recovery process. “That is already damage in itself,” he highlighted.

He reiterated that the activation of the mechanism, developed within the framework of the Barbados Agreement, was drafted by the opposition delegation of the Unitary Platform, which indicates that the decision of the Administrative Political Chamber of the TSJ must be respected:

Because if the only acceptable decision was the one wanted by the surnames, and the oligarchies, and the extreme right wing, the courts have existed since they were invented to settle a matter, or one option or another,” he said after ensuring that, on the part of the Bolivarian Government, the provisions of the Barbados Agreement were complied with.

In response to the spokesman for the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, who in December 2023 stated that he is willing to suspend the relaxation of certain sanctions imposed on Venezuela, he said that “these ignore the immense majorities that have been fighting for 300 years against any form of empire, and these vulgar kidnappers insist on resorting to those small beings who make up their lackeys,” he said.

He urged not to waste time between now and April 18. “Because on April 19, the people who are disqualified and who appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice, and the court (has already) decided (…) on April 19, those who were disqualified will continue being disqualified,” stressed the president of Parliament.
