President Maduro: 200 years ago the republican arms of the Gran Colombia triumphed

Expressing “deep emotion” for the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Taking of Puerto Cabello, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, exalted the civil-military union of the people who fought 200 years ago to liberate Puerto Cabello from the Spanish empire:

The persistence and perseverance of a generation that dared to rebel against the empire that dominated these lands for 300 years (…) boys, soldiers, young soldiers of our free, independent Venezuela, of the Venezuela of the 21st century, in your blood runs the blood of those who sacrificed their entire lives to go to war, a generation that stood up to it, revealed the Spanish empire,” said the Dignitary during the commemorative event of the Bicentennial of the Liberation of Puerto Cabello.

From the Bolívar Square of this city in Carabobo state, the Head of State highlighted that the Venezuelan people are on the bicentennial route, hand in hand with the values of sovereignty and independence that characterize the Bolivarian Revolution.

After analyzing the Venezuelan history, the President asserted that only the union, persistence and search for dignity, honor, freedom and independence, as well as the leadership of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, was “the revolutionary offensive of the “Liberating Army together with Antonio José de Sucre, against the Spanish crown.”

In that context, he urged the people to remember the history and the lands won through the fight for independence, led by our heroes.
