Since the early hours of this Wednesday, the Government proceeded to take control of the Carabobo Penitentiary Center located in the Libertador municipality (Tocuyito) of the central entity. That prison is known as La Máxima de Tocuyito (The Maximum of Tocuyito), since it was conceived as an extreme security penitentiary.
The Minister for Interior Relations, Remigio Ceballos, confirmed the procedure which he called “Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro Tocuyito Penitentiary Security Operation.”
According to other sources, was known that a contingent of police and military officials entered the prison in the early morning hours and began a protocol to identify those deprived of liberty. To do this, they cleared the cells and placed the inmates in the central courtyard of the prison.
The Tocuyito prison was one of the six that did not have the so-called Penitentiary Regime, implemented at the time by then Minister Iris Varela, based on discipline, study and work.
Minister Ceballos explained in an interaction that the takeover of Tocuyito is part of the “Plan to Reimpulse the Penitentiary System.”
The procedure in Tocuyito takes place a month after the one carried out at the Aragua Penitentiary Center, located in Tocoron, from where the criminal activities of the Aragua Train were directed, according to investigations.
