President Maduro: Agreement signed in Barbados is a victory of perseverance in dialogue

This agreement that has been signed (in Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados) is a victory of perseverance in dialogue, of perseverance on the path of peace,” emphasized the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during a conversation with members of the Dialogue Commission for the Bolivarian Government, held at Miraflores Palace.

He spared no words in emphasizing that it means a victory for the people who have resisted and fought, and who have also been attacked with criminal sanctions, and yet he said: “I persevere on a single path.”

In fact, the national dignitary considered that the document and commitment assumed in Bridgetown was like the one assumed twenty years ago (2003). This was called the Agreement Between Representatives of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Political and Social Factors that Support it and the Democratic Coordinator and the Political and Civil Society Organizations that comprise it, (signed) on May 29, 2003.

He alluded that this document “allowed since its signature to go through these 20 years of struggle, battle, victory of the Bolivarian Revolution, dialogue, understanding, conversation, tolerance, respect for the Constitution, overcoming extra-constitutional blackmail and overcoming the conditions, led us on the path of regularizing the country, of consolidating the Revolution, democracy, and for the Constitution to be fully assumed by all Venezuelans.”

An agreement that gave us twenty years of travel,” said the Venezuelan head of state.

President Maduro stated that upon seeing the sealed document (in Barbados) he visualizes “forward, twenty years or more, of construction, growth, prosperity, recovery of the social welfare state, unity among Venezuelans, harmony, of tolerance, of encounter and reunion.”

This Wednesday, the national leader expressed his joy after receiving from the head of the delegation for the Bolivarian Government, Jorge Rodríguez, the partial agreements signed in Barbados.

Regarding these, President Maduro specified: “These are the originals of the document for the protection of vital interests to declare to the world that Venezuelans are all united, firmly united in the defense of Guayana Essequiba” and the “Denominated Agreement on the Promotion of Political Rights and Electoral Guarantees for everyone.”

In a salute to the members of the Dialogue Commission of the Unitary Platform of Venezuela (PUV), he thanked the head of this delegation, Gerardo Blyde, whom he described as “an honorable man, a constitutionalist, (a man) of his word who has insisted for this agreement to go forward”, in addition to thanking him for his “Pro-Venezuelan vocation.”

The Venezuelan Head of State said that from now on it is appropriate to join efforts with all blocks, social, political, economic and academic sectors of the country to continue expanding the spectrum of Venezuelans who are committed to peace, coexistence and harmony.

A very important effort has been made to advance along the path of dialogue,” which is not new, he said while remembering the dialogue efforts made by Commander Hugo Chávez.
