President Maduro advocates for peace and respect for the rights of the Palestinian people

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, referred this Monday to the escalation of violence that has been experienced this weekend between Israelis and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip:

There are those who come out to give their opinion lightly about this historical conflict (…) of the dispossession of Palestinian land,” said the President, stating that what is happening in that area has been described by the United Nations and Human Rights organizations as “the new apartheid”.

In this regard, Maduro recalled that the United Nations (UN) in 1967 established rulings for the establishment of two States (Palestine and Israel), a decision of mandatory compliance that has been violated by all the Governments of Israel:

What is happening right now, the beginning of an escalating war that is dangerous for the peace and security of all the peoples of the planet, is the result of the permanent violation of the United Nations agreement, the permanent violation of Human Rights. Humans of the Palestinian people,” he expressed.

President Maduro called on Christians, Muslims and Jews in the world to demand compliance with the agreements established at the UN:

Let us demand a ceasefire, let us demand respect for the rights of the people and demand that immediate peace negotiations begin to restore the historical rights to independence, territory and peace of the Palestinian people,” he emphasized during the broadcast of the program. “Con Maduro+”.

Along these lines, the Venezuelan Head of State warned about the manipulation that has been unleashed on Social Networks regarding this issue and expressed his disagreement with violence. In that sense, he called for a deep study of the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Likewise, the Venezuelan President considered that world public opinion and large media corporations – many times – remain silent in the face of dispossession, violence and “the massacres committed against the Palestinian people.”

So far 1,300 Israelis and Palestinians have been killed and more than 5,000 injured following an attack launched from the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian group Hamas and Israel’s immediate response.
