FANB declares Yapacana National Park as territory free of illegal mining

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) declared the Yapacana National Park, in the state of Amazonas, as a territory free of illegal mining. During Operation Autana 2023, more than 13,000 illegal miners were evicted from the affected area:

We declare the Yapacana National Park as a territory free of illegal mining. The Bolivarian National Armed Forces, in a civil-military union, managed to accomplish this mission,” said military authorities in Amazonas.

Military troops destroyed illegal camps and citadels that were used by criminal gangs for shelter. In addition, the FANB found wells built to extract minerals, which left incalculable damage in the Venezuelan Amazon.

It is worth mentioning that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces will remain on permanent patrol to protect the Yapacana, whose purpose is to avoid logging, burning, contamination of water sources, drilling and other practices that put the environment at risk.
