Created Special Economic Zone in the eastern region for food production

In 5,453,704 hectares, distributed in five states of the country, will come into operation a Special Economic Zone (ZEE) dedicated to the production of food from national and international investment.

The announcement was made by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, who explained that the ZEE will cover eastern Guárico, southern Anzoátegui, central-western Monagas, southern Sucre and northern Bolívar states, within the context of a strategy to promote the participation of businessmen and investors from the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), whose 15th Summit will take place -precisely this August 22, 23 and 24- in the city of Johannesburg:

We have a proposal for the BRICS countries to come to invest, and we have created a Special Productive Economic Zone, a Rural Economic Zone with 5,453,704 hectares (…) a new Economic Zone for food production for national and international investors. international, we are going to propose all this to the BRICS”, he stressed from the La Casona Cultural “Aquiles Nazoa”, located in Miranda state.

He explained that the territory of the ZEE will be focused on the production of soybeans, corn, sorghum, peanuts and cashews, as well as the development of cattle, goats, sheep and buffalo livestock; forest production, legumes, cotton and sunflower:
