The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its condolences to the US African American people, the global sports community and the families of Mohamed Ali, for the regrettable death of this sporting glory and symbol of the struggle for civil rights, peace and religious diversity in the world.
History will remember Mohamed Ali not only as the greatest and most stylish boxer of all time, but as a man who, since very young, rebelled against the prevailing system of racial discrimination in his country, and used his sporting success to denounce before the world the inequality and violation of the rights of the African American community.
The world will remember his famous speech before a jury which pretended to force him to participate in the genocide against the Vietnamese people: “… I will not be traveling ten thousand kilometers to help kill a poor country simply to continue the domination of whites over blacks slaves … ”
Mohamed Ali becomes a giant in the hearts of fans of sports and of the peaceful coexistence among peoples, cultures and religions.
HONOR AND GLORY!!!
