Venezuela produces 94% of food for national consumption

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, stated that thanks to the growth of the country’s industrial engine, the sector currently produces 94% of the food that goes to the people’s homes.

This was stated by the head of state on his account on the Twitter social network, @NicolasMaduro, where he also noted that Venezuela previously imported more than 80% of its food for national consumption:

“Production and growth for our Homeland!”, emphasized the national president in his published message, which was accompanied by images referring to the products of the “Hecho en Comuna” (Made In Commune) brand, which was born in October 2022.

It is worth noting that the community companies manufacture packaged products such as precooked cornmeal, coffee and chocolate.

Likewise, President Maduro assured that Venezuela is advancing in terms of food production In order to satisfy internal demand and to export products from this sector, whose activity grew in 2022.

According to figures reported by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), the agricultural sector registered a growth of 4.84% between January and September last year, compared to the same term of 2021, rising 4.39%, 4.53 % and 5.61% in the first, second and third quarters of 2022, respectively.

For its part, the Confederation of Associations of Agricultural Producers (Fedeagro) recently said that corn production grew by 46% last year compared to 2021, increasing from 750,000 tons to 1.1 million; while the rice harvest closed 2022 with an increase of 118%, going from 240,000 to 525,000 tons.
