Llorenti: Countries will make their principles and values prevail at the Summit of the Americas

The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, assured this Thursday that, at the Summit of the Americas – which will take place next June – will prevail the principles and values of sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples of the continent.

The summit “will be a stage in which the countries of our region will prevail their principles and values that come from the Bolivarian Doctrine, of respect for our sovereignty, our identity, and our own interests”, said Llorenti in statements broadcast by Venezolana de Television:

“Surely the United States continues with this logic of application of the Monroe Doctrine”, added the Executive Secretary of ALBA.

The declarations are given days after taking place, in Havana, Cuba; a Summit of Heads of State and Government, where the exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the Summit of the Americas was rejected.

On the other hand, he welcomed the decision of the countries that make up the Caribbean Community (Caricom), the pro-tempore president of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), the Argentinean president, Alberto Fernández, as well as the heads of State of other nations such as Honduras and Mexico, among others, who expressed their rejection of this decision by the Joe Biden government.
