FANB commemorates 200 years of the Pichincha Battle

All the components of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) commemorated this Tuesday, May 24, the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Pichincha, in Ecuador, commanded by General Antonio José de Sucre.

«Today, May 24, 200 years after that majestic epic left by Venezuelans, New Granadeans, Argentineans, Peruvians, Quitons in that immortal field called Pichincha, we are from here, at this distance and at this time, commemorating and also celebrating for everything stop the years of that deed”, expressed the Minister of People’s Power for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, in a joint radio and television broadcast, in a speech prior to the start of the commemorative act of the Bicentennial of the Battle of Pichincha.

From the Paseo Los Próceres (Heroes Stroll), Padrino López sent greetings to the Ecuadorian Armed Forces, which celebrates its anniversary this May 24 and began this commemorative act with the transmission of the Battle of Pichincha audiovisual and the presentation of a play performed by army cadets.

In addition, the Operational Strategic Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Domingo Hernández Lárez, was in charge of the central speech of this act, in which he highlighted historical data of this liberating feat:

Today, May 24, 2022, is a transcendental and iconic day for the freedom and independence of South America, since we commemorate with special joy in this bicentennial era one more heroic triumph of the American popular masses over Spanish colonial rule, having as the setting for the foothills of the Pichincha volcano, in Ecuadorian lands, in whose final outcome was materialized the total liberation of the territories of the former Royal Audience of Quito, today marks the 200th anniversary of that masterful battle”, recalled Hernández Lárez.
