New electronic ID card will store data such as driver’s license, blood type and medications

The general director of the Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Immigration (SAIME), Gustavo Vizcaíno, reported that they continue to make progress on the electronic ID Card project.

This identification instrument, according to the projections of the institution, could have “a duration of 10 to 20 years” of validity. In addition, it will include an electronic chip that will store “important data, such as driver’s license, health history, blood type, medications, emergency address, among others”, he explained.

On the other hand, Vizcaíno stressed that attention in the SAIME offices is maintained by the identity card terminal number, but in the next few days the opening of the offices during normal hours will be announced, following the guidelines of the National Executive.

Similarly, he warned that there are accounts on social networks that are managed by criminal gangs that seek to defraud citizens with identification procedures, for which he invited users to follow the official SAIME accounts.
