Bill for the Respect of Human Rights in the Exercise of Public Function was approved in first discussion

In an Extraordinary Session, the National Assembly (AN) approved this Thursday, in the first discussion, the Bill for the Respect of Human Rights (DD.HH.) in the Exercise of Public Function.

Deputy Francisco Ameliach, from the speakers’ platform, presented the bill, its content, scope and purposes, a legal text discussed for the first time by the plenary of deputies of the AN:

This law includes the participation of the people, and is concentrated in articles 2 and 3 of our Constitution, which establish that Venezuela is constituted in a democratic social State with the right to justice, the essential purpose of which is the fulfillment of the pre-eminence of the human rights”, said Ameliach.

In her speech, deputy Rodbexa Poleo highlighted “the permanent efforts of the Bolivarian Government to guarantee the human rights of all and of all without distinction, at all levels and in any space, amidst an escalation of violence by the North American empire and sponsored by actors of the national extreme right wing”.

Also from the opposition bench, Deputy Martín López ratified the support of the Democratic Alliance and they voted in favor of this bill.

Law of the Statute of the Police Function:

Another of the points included in the parliamentary agenda this Thursday was the first discussion of the draft Law of Partial Reform of the Decree with Rank, Value and Force of Law of the Statute of the Police Function, which had the unanimous support of the deputies and deputies of the AN.

In this matter, deputy Marifre Susana Rodríguez Mendoza, a member of the Permanent Commission of Internal Policy, presented before the plenary of the National Assembly the aforementioned Bill of Partial Reform of the Law of the Statute of the Police Function, and specified that the reform aspires to expand the instances and internal control bodies, as well as to expand the tactical level, to ascend to the strategic and managerial level.

After its approval today in the first discussion, this legal instrument is sent to the Permanent Committee on Internal Policy to be submitted to public consultation at the national level, including the different police agencies.
