President Maduro pays tribute to the Diablos Danzantes

Through his account on the Facebook social network, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, paid tribute to the ceremony celebtarted every ninth Thursday after Holy Thursday, known as the celebration of Corpus Christi, where the «Diablos Danzantes» (Dancing Devils) of 11 brotherhoods from five regions of Venezuela dance in honor of the Blessed Sacrament.
In his message, the Venezuelan President recalled that the brotherhoods that keep this tradition since the time of the colony were declared in 2012 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
President Maduro wrote:
«One of the most important cultural events of our country, and an ideal occasion to invite you to travel the country, is the celebration of «Corpus Christi» or Body of Christ, a Catholic ceremony held every ninth Thursday after Holy Thursday, where the Dancing Devils of Venezuela awake to life and pay homage to the Blessed Sacrament, as a reminder to the eternal triumph of good over evil.
This ancient tradition recalls the colonial times and enhances the beauty that possess the five regions where the 11 brotherhoods are located, declared as intangible cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), on December 6, 2012.
