The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, confirmed this Sunday that the presence of the British and Andean variants has been detected in the national territory, both coming from Colombia.
During the customary weekly presentation of the balance of the actions to fight and control SARS-CoV-2, the Venezuelan head of state asserted that the lack of health control policies by the Colombian government has caused that in that country have registered and multiplied the different variants of the Coronavirus existing in the world, putting at risk its neighboring countries, such as Venezuela, aggravated by the lack of strict epidemiological controls and bio-sanitary treatment at its borders:
“We have a huge border and the British variant arrived in the area of Apure state, as well as in and on the border of Zulia state we have detected the so-called Andean variant”, he said.
He added that the Andean variant, “which originally emerged in Chile, but is already running in Colombia” has also been detected in Trujillo state:
“This is a disease (Coronavirus) that is mutating, that is changing… so we have to take care of ourselves; Those who take care of themselves do well, those who do not take care of themselves do not do well”, said President Maduro.
