“Venezuela is a great recipient of immigrants from many countries and it continues to be so, the world must know that Venezuela is a country that guarantees public liberties and Human Rights (HR)”, said this Monday the Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, when highlighting that the report of the High Commissioner of the United Nations Organization (UN), Michelle Bachelet, echoed an office that was in the hands of the enemies of the homeland.
In an interview granted to journalist Breno Altman, of the Brazilian media Ópera Mundi, he informed that Bachelet knows the opinion of a people where there is respect for Human Rights.
He emphasized that an office in Venezuela was established in the country for better cooperation and communication.
“Her reports should be more objective and not based on hatred, in a battle for the truth; when there is a violation by any State organism, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Courts prosecute and punish those acts”, he emphasized.
In this sense, he indicated that xenophobia and persecution has been ruthless against Venezuelans in countries such as Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, for which reason thousands of Venezuelans have been repatriated through the Return to the Homeland Plan, and currently the lists in Embassies and Consulates have almost 80 thousand people waiting to return to Venezuela.
“Only by walking, have entered the country 300,000 people who as a result of the asphyxiation of this war promoted by the outgoing government of Donald Trump, a group migrated, but they have fared badly and most of them want to return to their homeland once the country is stabilized”, he said.
He highlighted that National Institute of Statistics (INE) estimates in the last four years the migration of between 600,000 to 800,000 Venezuelans, while in Venezuela live a total of 6 million Colombians, 600,000 Peruvians, 600,000 Ecuadorians, 1 million Arabs, 600,000 Portuguese, 500,000 Italians and 600,000 Spaniards.
“We are a country that welcomes everyone who wants to come without distinction”, he emphasized.
