COVID: Venezuela registered 296 new cases this Tuesday

240 days after the pandemic in Venezuela, the Presidential Commission for the Prevention of Covid-19 reported this Tuesday that in the last 24 hours, the country registered 296 new infections, 251 of community transmission and 45 imported cases.

This was announced on Tuesday by the Minister for Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, through social networks.

The community cases are distributed as follows: Yaracuy state 67, Capital District 60, Lara state 39, Táchira state 28, Zulia state 26, Miranda state 17, Nueva Esparta state 4, Carabobo state 2, La Guaira state 2, Aragua state 2, Trujillo state 1, Barinas state 1, Anzoátegui state 1, Merida state 1.

Likewise, Ñáñez highlighted that Yaracuy is the state with the highest number of infections in 10 of its 14 affected municipalities: San Felipe 20, Independencia 20, Peña 14, Cocorote 4, Sucre 2, Nirgua 1, Veroes 1, Arístides Bastidas 1, Bruzual 1 , Trinidad 1.

Regarding the 45 imported cases from Colombia, he explained that 33 entered through Táchira state and 12 through Zulia state (25 women and 20 men.)

He also stressed that, to date, 95,445 cases have been confirmed, 90,359 people have been recovered, which represents 95% of infections. We have 4,252 active cases, 4,211 are being treated in the public health system and 41 in private clinics.

Freddy Ñáñez also lamented the death of 4 Venezuelans:

2 men aged 88 and 52 from Amazonas state

1 82-year-old man from Zulia state

1 79-year-old man from Mérida state.

In addition, the minister informed that 2,216,750 tests have been carried out to date. Which represents 73,892 tests per million inhabitants.
