Maduro invites movements of Sao Paulo Forum to participate as observers in DEC-6 elections

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on Thursday invited political movements and organizations, members of the Sao Paulo Forum, to come to the country, to participate as observers in the December 6 elections:

I invite you, all social, political, intellectual movements, parties, all scientific institutions linked to the Sao Paulo Forum, to come to Venezuela on December 6, to be participants and observers of the election n. 25, of the election for the new National Assembly”, said the Venezuelan head of state from Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.

During the International meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, which this year takes place virtually; The National President asserted that these parliamentary elections will be a “democratic and peace victory”.

I invite you to accompany the people of Venezuela in this tremendous democratic and peace victory, this republican victory that we are going to have here on December 6. I invite you from right now”, he stressed.

In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, the Venezuelan president stressed that the revolutionary process has laid its foundations on popular, participatory and protagonist democracy, and has been consolidated with the victory in 22 of 24 elections held in recent years.

In this sense, he referred to the 2015 elections, when the Venezuelan right wing won the victory of the National Assembly (AN), a defeat that it accepted from the first minute, after the electoral results were announced.

There began an ordeal for us, because the National Assembly has since been used to provoke a coup d’état, to provoke an armed incursion, a foreign military intervention, to promote sanctions against the economy, against the oil industry, against the finances of the country, to steal assets abroad; the National Assembly became the epicenter of the conspiracy and plot against democracy and life in freedom of our Republic”, he warned.

He asserted that on this new election journey, there will be all the electoral guarantees, requested by the opposition sectors, which this year will have 95 political parties participating in the elections on December 6:

“The opposition has requested more electoral guarantees in its different sectors and the Electoral Power has given it more electoral guarantees”, he stressed.

It should be noted that for this new journey, more than 20 million Venezuelans are summoned to elect the 277 new members of the AN for the period 2021-2026, as established by the Constitution.

In these elections, more than 14,000 members of 107 political organizations registered, of which more than 13,000 are representatives of the opposition.
