Maduro: Going to vote will be the safest act of 2020

Given the pretensions of the Venezuelan and world ultra-right wing to force the suspension of the parliamentary elections on December 6, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, assured that the pertinent coordination and adjustments are being made in order to guarantee biosafety measures for the voters.

“They want to suspend the elections by any means (…) going to vote will be the safest act that any of us could do in 2020, it will a safest act than doing daily tasks”, he pointed out when leading the master class of ideological technical training of the candidates of the Great Patriotic Pole.

There are “mandatory reasons, of constitutional weight” for holding the elections, emphasized Maduro, noting that “they are throwing poisonous darts regarding the Coronavirus” to support the hypothesis of postponement of the elections.

In this regard, he announced that the National Electoral Council in a joint work with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces will deploy a device to deliver face masks and hydroalcoholic gel.

“We are making a great effort, at this moment – the pandemic in the country – is controlled, we have diverse treatments, some under clinical trials, we have brought here the best treatments in the world to save lives and we are saving tens of lives”, he assured, while stressing that Venezuela has the lowest fatality rate in the world.

Up to date, more than 80% of the people who contracted the COVID-19 virus have overcome the disease.

“I aspire that by November or December we have more controlled the coronavirus pandemic, we will have the treatments perfected to continue saving lives, we will have the Russian vaccine”, he concluded.
