Moncada denounces US company for financing disinformation campaign against Venezuela

The representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, denounced this Thursday that the US company CLS Strategies has created and financed a disinformation campaign on social networks, against Venezuela.

Through messages published on the Twitter social network, Moncada reported that the company based in Washington, United States (USA), made a payment of millions of dollars to Facebook, to create a network of political aggression that favors the oppositions of Venezuela, Bolivia and Mexico.

“CLS Strategies has created hundreds of accounts with fake profiles on Facebook and Instagram to manipulate public opinion. The accounts have already been closed but it is not the only case of information war since Washington”, wrote Moncada on Twitter.

The message thread states that this company is located a few blocks from the White House, and has been conspiring against legitimately constituted governments for years through false accounts on the networks.

It revealed that CLS partner Mark Feierstein is a former official with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and current analyst at the International Center for Strategic Studies.

To these links is added a proposal made by Keierstein to US President Donald Trump, in 2017 with a disinformative plan to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro.

“It is clear that CLS serves the Trump administration”, reiterated Moncada.

He also mentioned Emilio Lozoya, the former director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) who has been accused of participating in acts of corruption with three other former Mexican presidents and who assured that CLS was paid $ 272,000 to support the candidates of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

“Today CLS acts against the current Mexican government”, warned the Venezuelan Ambassador.

He added that CLS also participated in a campaign to clean up the image of Jeanine Áñez, who proclaimed herself “interim president” after the coup d’état against the indigenous leader, Evo Morales.

“There she charged more than $ 120,000. Altogether, the disinformation operations touched half a million users. CLS is an agent of Trump’s colonialism in Latin America”, he stressed.
