Executive Vice President: Supermarket activity in Venezuela grew 19% between 2021 and 2022

The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, participated in the meeting with the Latin American Association of Supermarkets (ALAS), made up of 16 countries and associations that represent supermarket chains in Latin America and the Caribbean:

The supermarket activity in the country grew 19% in relation to the year 2021. This speaks of a recovery program that President Nicolás Maduro presented in August 2018, in the framework of a blocked economy. These are important numbers because there is talk of consolidation”.

Likewise, Rodríguez highlighted that the production of the food sector has increased in 2022: “100% of the raw material is brought by the private sector, our country presents a figure of one-digit inflation despite the situation being lived in the world. The Bolivarian nation has a capacity for resistance and recovery together with the Venezuelan people who are recognized for their dignity, in this way the national government demonstrates the numbers that it speaks of consolidation”.

She reported that as part of the National Council for Productive Economy, progress was made in the strategic import substitution scheme, noting that the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) updated its figures and today projects a growth in the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). of 12% for “our country in the year 2022, for which it would be the second highest growth rate in Latin America and the Caribbean”.

On the other hand, she affirmed that the Bolivarian Economic Agenda takes an important step given that with this initiative a permanent dialogue is promoted through workshops and work tables with the different associations of the productive sectors, in order to debate proposals and establish solutions. to boost the economy in Venezuela.

Italo Atencio, director of ANSA, recalled that these types of work sessions are intended to strengthen ties between businessmen in the region and promote business between members of the organizations: “to advance in the recovery and strengthening of the national economy and the region. It is estimated that by 2023, the supermarket sector is projected for a year of growth between 6 and 9% and a reduction in inflation is generated”.
