The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, stressed this Monday that only through voting and the debate of ideas is it possible for Venezuelans to strengthen the country’s democracy.
The declaration comes after the Presidential pardon granted to 110 citizens and political actors of the national opposition, of which 23 are main deputies and four substitutes.
Regarding the decree, the Prosecutor, as president of the Commission for Truth, Justice, Peace and Public Tranquility, congratulated the National Government and President Nicolás Maduro for the decision that broadens the paths towards dialogue:
«Peaceful coexistence and understanding between Venezuelans of good will, won to make the human right to suffrage and the debate of ideas, is the only possible way to strengthen our democracy», wrote Saab in his account on the Twitter social network.
This afternoon, the Minister of People’s Power for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, reported on the pardon signed by the National President, which seeks to settle the differences between Venezuelans without foreign intervention.
Minister Rodríguez explained that with this action there are two unique opportunities for dialogue: Through the electoral polls in the process on December 6, and when the new Parliament is installed in January 2021.
