President Maduro announced the end of protectorates in the regions as of NOV21

The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, announced that as of the result in the next elections of NOV21, the figure of the protectorates in the regions will be eliminated.

In his speech during the delivery of the 2021 National Journalism Award, the head of state emphasized that in each state and municipality he will govern “whoever is called upon, whoever wins.”

“From these elections I think the best thing is, whoever wins, as for me we are going to eliminate what is called the protectorates, we are going to eliminate the protectorates by state and by municipality, we will see how it goes”, stressed President Maduro.

It is worth remembering that the figure of the protectors was created by the Revolution to defend the Venezuelan people, inhabiting municipalities and governorates whose spaces were used for destabilization or incitement to confrontation between Venezuelans, neglecting the public function.

Election by the bases across the political spectrum:

In this context and, he highlighted the nomination session for candidates held last Sunday by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, which he described as successful, and invited all the country’s political organizations, in all tendencies, mainly from the opposition, to apply similar methods to elect their candidates directly by their militants.

We are going to elections on November 21 and may the one who presents the best program, the best candidacy, who mobilizes the people in his favor, wins. Hopefully the opposition will achieve the unification of its forces because we want to go out to battle with that united opposition and that may win whoever has to win”, he emphasized.

He assured that these initiatives “are good news for Venezuelan democracy and to fight the battle in defense of our country, to dismantle the horrible campaigns that say that in Venezuela there is a dictatorship, a regime”, he concluded.
