President Maduro reaffirms his commitment to dialogue after talks with Norway are reactivated

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue and peace on Wednesday, after announcing the reactivation of talks with Norway.

The Venezuelan head of state explained that the talks are led by the Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, on behalf of the National Government,.

“The Norwegian theme was reactivated. Jorge Rodríguez is talking, he welcomed them here and now he is coordinating what was pending on the subject with the Norwegians. My greetings to the Norwegian delegation that was in Venezuela. Everything that was discussed there we will continue, you know already about our commitment to dialogue, to democracy”, said the National President during a work journey with the productive sector.

On repeated occasions, the National Government has shown its willingness to national dialogue with sectors of the opposition, in order to seek – jointly – a solution to the political landscape and thus consolidate the stability of the Republic.

The most recent took place in 2019, between Oslo and Barbados. However, given the unilateral measures imposed by the United States government against Venezuela – and which were supported by the Venezuelan right wing – the Venezuelan government suspended the meetings.
