National Government guarantees food to indigenous people of La Guajira facing Covid-19

In Zulia state, the deployment of integral care for the native communities continues through the Special Food Plan that this time favored more than 4,000 families in the Alta Guajira. This in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The director for the peninsular territory, deserts and waters, and also Secretary of Peoples and Indigenous Communities of Zulia state, Yimmys Rodríguez, reported that in this phase, 42 communal councils of the parish were taken care of with the provision of 4 tons of food.

“In times of pandemic, is strengthened the house by house procedure, bringing the products of the basic basket to each indigenous family continuously in order to prevent them from going out into the streets and exposing themselves to the contagion of Covid-19”, said the Wayuu leader.
