This Monday the vice president of Communication, Tourism and Culture, Jorge Rodríguez, reported on Monday 97 imported Covid-19 cases, and 33 cases of community transmission in the country to register 130 cases in 24 hours, bringing the total number to 4,048 cases, in addition to two new deceased for a total of 35 fatal victims of the virus.

After the daily meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of Covid-19, he specified that the recovered patients total 1,327, which is equivalent to a 33%, while the death toll rose to 35 after registering two deaths, both from the San Francisco municipality of Zulia state.

Regarding the community transmission cases, seven are from Táchira state, six from Sucre, five from Carabobo, four from Caracas, four from Miranda, two from Zulia, Aragua, Apure, Cojedes, Bolívar, and Trujillo state with a single case.

Referring to the imported cases, he said that 70 come from Colombia, eight from Brazil, six from Ecuador, three from Peru and 10 people are by contact with international travelers.

Rodríguez pointed out that of the 2,686 active cases, a total of 2,111 are receiving free treatment in hospitals, 555 in Integral Diagnostic Centers (CDI), 20 in private clinics. This is equivalent to 2,666 being held in the National Public Health System (99.26%), while only 0.74 of the patients are in private centers.

He added on the current condition of active patients that 2,278 are asymptomatic, 389 have mild acute respiratory failure, 13 have moderate acute respiratory failure, and 6 are being held in Intensive Care Units due to their serious condition.

Regarding the total number of compatriots who have entered the country since last April 6, he specified that they total 60,942 Venezuelans, of whom 2,501 have entered infected.

Referring to the total number of tests applied, he indicated that 1,143,648 tests have been performed as of Monday, which is equivalent to 38,122 tests per million inhabitants.

He stressed that the cases recently registered in the country are due to the effects of the exponential curves of infections in Colombia and Brazil, and thus they must be detained with radical quarantine and the use of face masks in order to avoid infections, besides keeping hygiene standards, the use of alcohol in a concentration of 60 percent, social distancing, among other norms.
