18 cases of community transmission were detected in the last 24 hours

This Sunday, were confirmed 18 new cases of community transmission of Covid-19, in the last 24 hours, which brings the number of cases to 1,121 in its entirety, as reported the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

Two cases were confirmed in Nueva Esparta state, linked to the focus of the Pedro González academy (Gómez municipality); a 21-year-old man from the Díaz municipality and a 31-year-old from Arismendi, said Maduro in a contact with the commission in charge of coordinating the combat of Covid-19, meeting at Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.

He explained that in Zulia state were identified several cases: An 18-year-old merchant man and another 32-year-old resident in La Cañada de Urdaneta, as well as two others aged 35 and 33, all linked to the Mercado de Las Pulgas (Fleas Market). There is also a minor, as mentioned the National President.

In Maracaibo, Zulia state, a 55-year-old woman and a 31-year-old woman, in both cases yet to determine the contact chain, while the tenth case is a 23-year-old female from the Santa Lucia sector, a housewife, and a 44 years old man from Maracaibo, a merchant also associated with the Las Pulgas market.

In El Hatillo, Miranda state, was also detected a 44-year-old man. He was admitted to a private clinic in eastern Caracas. In the neighborhood of Santa Cruz del Este, the President ordered a mass screening due to other confirmed cases in the area.

Two 15-year-old girls from Baruta were also infected; A 19-year-old man, in addition to a 38-year-old woman, a teacher, who had contact with a positive case, he stressed.

The rest correspond to a 59-year-old woman in Petare with no travel history or contact with a positive case. The last one is an eight-year-old girl from the Tovar municipality of Mérida state.

The President of the Republic announced that, of the 1,121 cases registered throughout the national territory, only 278 cases are from community contact, the remaining 843, which represents a 75%, are imported (coming from abroad). The figure of 10 deaths throughout the national territory is maintained.

He also noted that the number of recovered remains at 262 and that 475 of the patients are being treated in hospitals; 357 in Integral Diagnostic Centers (CDI) and 17 in private clinics.
