Nicolas Maduro, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, said that if the National Electoral Council approves the making of the (revoking) referendum in the nation, he will be the first to enforce the provisions of the Constitution.
«Here the CNE has the power, if it says that (the opposition) have not met the requirements, that option is not going any further, and they will not impose it with violence. If the CNE says ‘requirements are met’, then we go to the next step, and if they convene for a referendum next year, the first one to say ‘Be the Law and the Constitution complied with», will be Nicolas Maduro», said the Head of State.
Speaking from the Teresa Carreño Theater, the President asked the revolutionaries not to be distracted in the work to overcome the current economic situation.
It should be noted that in order to armour the democracy and transparency of the process, Maduro created a Special Commission of Verification of Signatures accompanying the CNE with technical specialists in various fields.
