Denied access to Curaçao authorities to ship that attacked Venezuelan Navy unit

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized on Wednesday that has been denied access to the Curaçao authorities to the ship “Resolute”, which attacked a unit of the Bolivarian Navy on Monday while carrying out maritime patrol work northeast of La Tortuga Island.

“This confirms the hypothesis that this ship was being used to bring mercenaries to our coasts and carry out attacks on military units or political objectives”, said the Venezuelan head of state in a telephone contact to the “Con el Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the Hammer) program.

During the program, led by the president of the National Constituent Assembly, Diosdado Cabello; the National President emphasized that “someone called from the North to prohibit the Curaçao authorities from entering the boat.”

In this regard, he stressed that the ship has a crew of 160 people, who have not been identified by the Curaçao authorities.

This Tuesday, the Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, denounced the attack on a unit of the Bolivarian Navy, which was conducting a maritime patrol to the northwest of La Tortuga Island, by a passenger ship.

Until now – as explained the minister this Tuesday during a Council of State – investigations are being carried out to determine the objective of this tourist ship appearing on Venezuelan coasts, given the measures that have been taken by all the countries of the world in the face of the pandemic, which records more than 930,000 cases.

For this reason, the also Commander in Chief of the Bolivarian National Forces (FANB) ordered the modification of the action protocols in the territorial sea.

“We are going to maintain coordination and in 24 hours they are going to be modified, by order that I have given as Commander in Chief, all the protocols to address similar situations in Venezuelan waters”, said the National President.
