Through Twitter, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ratified his support for the social cause of eradication of all forms of gender-based violence, on the occasion of commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women this Monday, November 25:
«To all the leaders, mothers and sisters I reiterate all my love and support for the cause of the total elimination of all forms of gender violence. You are the center of our daily effort and central column of the Revolution, you deserve a full and free life».
The General Assembly of the United Nations declared on December 17, 1999 to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women every November 25 in remembrance of the murder, ordered by Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo, of the three Mirabal sisters, who were political activists from the Dominican Republic.
