AN without legal floor to appoint rectors of CNE

The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice ratified, for the 2016-2023 period, to Socorro Hernández, as the first principal rector of the National Electoral Council, and Tania D ‘Amelio, as the second principal rector, after the expiration of the constitutional period of these officials, and because the National Assembly is in a state of contempt.
The deputy of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Homeland, Ramón Lobo, pointed out that although the National Parliament is responsible for designating the rectors of the electoral body, as established in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, while the latter maintains a harmful behavior,  all its Acts are void.
When interviewed in the “La Pauta de Hoy” (Today´s Schedule) program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, he said that the measure, discussed at the dialogue table, seeks to ensure the continuity of the national electoral timetable.
He warned that the Postulating Commission, appointed in August by the current NA board, lacks validity, so “their actions are void and have no legal effect, because it is still in contempt.”
He recalled that the NA has not made the formal disincorporation of citizens Nirma Guarulla, Julio Haron Ygarza and Romel Guzamana, sworn in January of this year, and as long as this unconstitutional omission is maintained, all acts referred to the designation of the authorities of the CNE lack all validity, effectiveness and legal existence.
